Originally a New Jersey native, Brett Pinkin - formerly known as dj Flite circa 1995 through 2001, resided in Los Angeles for seven years, moving to Austin, Texas in 2001 to attain his Masters in Accounting and become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Not only good with numbers, he has been a jazz musician since the tender age of 10, perfoming in numerous jazz groups and funk collectives. In college, he decided to turn his musical focus to electronic music, which he had been listening to during his early high school years (ambient, industrial, and house music). Since 2003, he has resided in San Francisco, working for a top accounting firm by day and performing as deejay by night.
Today, his mastery as a technical DJ is obvious, with over ten years of deejayin’ experience. Over the years he has had the opportunity to DJ from Seattle to San Diego, with select appearances in Texas, New Jersey, Nevada, and Arizona, spreading his signature funky trance and breakbeat-house sound across America. These days, he focuses more on the nu skool funky blistering breakbeat sound, with the focus on the funk. From 1995 - 1998, he hosted a dj mixed radio show ‘Liquid Generation’ on KSPC 88.7FM in Los Angeles/Claremont area and co-hosted a live internet dj mixed show at www.vibeflow.com from 1999 to 2000.
Although Brett Pinkin is one of the original SEISMIC party peeps, deejayin’ regularly at locations such as Mighty, Shine and the annual SEISMIC Beach Party event in the San Francisco area, Brett Pinkin also has had affiliations with the former Oracle Full Moon Gatherings in Portland, Oregon, New Era Productions in New Jersey, Biohazard Productions in Los Angeles, and Outdoor Party People in San Francisco, another collective of west coast creative crazies. From the Los Angeles raves to the New York dirty clubs to the Oregon forest to the Mojave desert and Burning Man, he has experienced the evolution of the west coast rave scene since 1994. Besides his numerous live audio mixes releases like Nu Skool Breakbeat series, Boombastic Breaks series, Hyper House, and Solar Elements, Brett has produced some of his own tracks at Biohazard Studios - Los Angeles. Although he has left Los Angeles, he continues to be a driving force behind Biohazard Productions. Now a resident of San Francisco, he is a vigilant member of SEISMIC and dedicates himself to the local breakbeat scene. This man just wants to get down with the bassbin-ripping funk and rock out with great people and great music.
