seismic preparations:
FAQ for the Love Parade
1. Where will the parade start?
You will see the first float appear on Beale Street @ Folsom.
2. When will the parade start?
Sound systems go on at 1pm and the parade and floats roll at 2pm.
3. Where should I park (if I must drive)?
LPSF reccomends leaving your cars at home and taking public transportation or ride your bike (bike parking will be available at the festival site). However, if you need to drive, there are public parking garages in the downtown area. Just be sure to get down there early so you can avoid traffic (yeah, right!).
4. Where should I take BART or MUNI?
If you take BART or MUNI to the parade, get off at the Embarcadero station. It's all right there.
5. What should I wear?
Of course this is SF and events like this are never enjoyed in practical clothing. That said, along with your funky outfit, be sure to bring layers. It will be warm in the day time but once the sun goes down you will need something long sleeve to keep you warm outside at the festival. And don't worry, there's a coat check at the AFTER party.
6. What should I bring?
Bring are all your friends, valid ID, cash and dancing shoes. Beyond that, bring a camera, ear plugs (if you need them) and maybe some sun screen. Be sure not to bring anything you cannot take home with you. Everyone really wants to see this happen again next year and keeping the city clean will help that goal.
7. What should I expect?
The parade will have about 30 floats, dozens of local and guest DJs and tons of amazing art themes and peformers. LPSF expects about 10K people to party during and after the parade. Since this is October in SF, the weather should be PERFECT allowing everyone to wear warm-weather clothes during the day and a light layer after dark.
8. How do I enjoy this parade?
This is NOT a normal stand-by-the-side-of-the-road-and-watch-marching-bands-go-by parade. People will follow along with their favorite floats, mingle, wander and generally be apart of the whole experience. To get the most out of the event, come to the staging area at Beale and Folsom at 1pm and start dancing when the sounds systems are switched on. Then walk/dance with the floats along the parade route (about two miles) to the festival area. The pace will be slow so everyone will be able to wander around and enjoy the whole parade.
9. Where will the parade end up?
The parade will end up down past SBC Park at Terry Francios Blvd. @ Mission Rock - in front of Jelly's. The festival will then commence with all the floats lined up down the street. This will go until 9pm.
10. How long will the parade and festival last?
The actual parade will last from about 2pm to 4pm. The festival will continue until 9pm when everyone will then head off to the different after-parties. (We hope you will bring your friends to ours, of course.)
11. What should I expect at the festival?
It's going to be amazing. All the floats will arrive and take positions so that the festival grounds will be encircled with sound. That's 30 floats playing music by 200 DJs and lots of dancing. Vendor booths, food, beer and alcohol, t-shirts will be available. We heard LPSF estimates about 10K people will attend which will make for a really exciting day/night.
12. What will entry to the festival cost?
The LPSF is FREE but organizers are asking for a $5 donation to help with logistical costs. You can make this donation as you enter the festival grounds after the parade.
FAQ for Seismic's AFTER THE LOVE
1. Where is this amazing after-party located?
Well, thanks. We think it will be amazing too. It's located at Mighty, 119 Utah Street @ 15th Street in Potrero Hill/SOMA.
2. When will the craziness start?
People will be swinging on over right after the parade/festival is over around 9pm. Why not? Who needs to rest when there is so much energy pumping over at Mighty? And we have many soft couches for you if you need to rest your tender footsies. Are we not civilized?

4. Who's that freakin' awesome DJ?
Which one? We have the WHOLE Space Cowboys crew (a party unto themselves) and a list of local talent so long, you'd think we were really glad to see you. PLUS, headlining are two major ragers; DJ Friendly (who is flying in from London just to see this thing go off) and Kid Beyond, the worlds greatest voice percussionist and a native San Franciscan. Does that clear things up?
5. How do I get over there?
Fret not young lover. We have hired the famous mexican Bus to shuttle the masses over to Mighty at 119 Utah Street. We'll TAKE you to where the REAL music is.
